In the Condé Nast Traveler 2015 Readers’ Choice Awards, the four star Spier Hotel was ranked 18 in the list of top 25 hotels in Africa.
So what defines the character of our 153-room hotel? We think it’s our village-style buildings, our soft, green lawns and spacious, comfortable rooms.
Garden terrace rooms are clustered around six courtyards, each with its own communal swimming pool, while others overlook the quietly-flowing Eerste River. The design is reminiscent of Cape Town’s historic Bo-Kaap, or a Mediterranean village where pedestrians have right of way.
We’re pioneers in responsible tourism. Spier was one of the first hotels to be awarded the Fair Trade in Tourism SA accreditation in 2004. In 2011, we won the top award in the ‘Doing It All’ category in the Condé Nast Traveler World Saver Award. And most recently, we won a Gold at the Virgin Holidays Partners in Sustainability Awards. Spier supports Pack-for-a-purpose, a charitable organisation that collects "supplies" from travelers and distributes it to local community based projects. The Spier Hotel is situated on the historic Spier wine farm in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands, just 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.
