Archived: More awards for Spier Wine

Spier has won gold and silver at Chardonnay du Monde for its Private Collection and Woolworths wines. The international competition tasted wines from 37 countries in accordance with strict guidelines, and is considered the highest accolade for Chardonnay in the world.

Woolworths The Abacus Chardonnay - True to Terroir 2008 was one of only two South African wines to win a gold medal at the awards; while Spier Private Collection Chardonnay 2008 was amongst only ten to win silver.

The judging at Chardonnay du Monde is of the highest calibre, with a ratio of 1:3 in terms of the number of judges and the number of wines assessed. This year 300 experts from around the globe assessed 887 wines, 65 of which won a gold award.
