Spier has played a pivotal role in the country's rich vinous history since its inception. The first grapes were pressed on the farm in 1712, and we are proud to be home to one of the Cape's oldest wine cellar buildings dated 1767.
Frans K Smit
Our flagship wine is a “super-blend” named after our Cellar Master as a tribute to his skill and devotion in consistently producing top quality, award-winning wines.
The limited edition Frans K. Smit is a world-class wine for special occasions. The blend is composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. Depending on the vintage, other varietals may be added.

Spier 21 Gables

Featuring a Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, our award-winning range celebrates the history of winemaking in South Africa, as well as our farm’s unique architectural feature; an unrivalled 21 Cape Dutch gables.
The Pinotage is produced from a vineyard in unusually close proximity to the ocean. The cool False Bay breezes and this rare terroir results in a Pinotage that is different but true to character.
The wooded Chenin Blanc is rich and complex. It is created from vineyards that are over 40 years old, producing grapes with thicker skins. This results in a distinctive Chenin Blanc with flavour intensity and greater ageing potential.

Spier Creative Block: Creative Blending
Spier is a long-time supporter of the arts. We wanted to create a wine range that reflects this commitment. Our Cellar Master recognised the synergies between blending wine and the Creative Block art project.
Creative Block combines artworks from different artists and rearranges them to create something new. It is this same principle of creatively blending different varietals from select vineyard blocks that creates these intriguing blends.
Each Creative Block wine is named after the number of varietals used to make up the blend. Spier Creative Block 2: Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are the varietals used to create this white Bordeaux-style blend. Spier Creative Block 3: Shiraz, Mourvedre andViogner are the varietals used to create this Rhone-style wine. Spier Creative Block 5: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are the varietals used to create red Bordeaux-style blend.

Spier Signature
This is our classic, everyday premium wine range. This range is a celebration of the glorious flavours found in each grape variety.
Every season the Spier winemaking team is devoted to revealing the character of the different classic varietals – because really that is what it is all about; realising the full potential of each grape’s unique personality, so that you can raise your glass and say ‘This is so Shiraz’ or ‘This is so Chardonnay’ and that is ‘so me’.

This range is a celebration of the seasons. The winemaker's challenge is harnessing the unique seasonal climates of the Western Cape. As every year is different, every vintage has a unique story to tell.

Spier Organically Grown
This wine is our first crafted from organic grapes, making it a true expression of Spier’s ethos.
The grapes are grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticide sprays or herbicides. This means that only the fittest survive, resulting in a great Sauvignon Blanc made from the healthiest grapes that are grown in balance with their environment.
