Food At Spier: Delicious Changes Ahead
After stellar service which saw it ranked as an Eat Out Top 500 restaurant, Eight – Spier’s farm-to-table experience – retired on 28 July 2019. Our commitment to seasonal and local ingredients will continue to live on, with this space becoming the new home of the Spier Picnics.
The Spier Farm Kitchen closed on 28 July, and will reopen on 1 October as the Spier Farm Café. Open daily, this will be a sit-down, serviced experience offering healthy, simple and nourishing breakfast and lunch dishes. These will all be made with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced either from our farm, or local producers who share our ethical approach. Our meat comes from pasture-reared animals raised without the use of antibiotics or hormones. This includes beef and pork from Spier’s Farmer Angus, who also supplies eggs, laid by happy, outdoor-roaming hens.
Where to eat at Spier while these two spaces undergo renovation:
- Tuck into our pre-ordered seasonal picnics on the Werf’s lawn or next to our dam.
- Delicious grab & go options and platters will be available from the Wine Tasting Room.
- As of 1 August, Vadas will open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Feast on South African-style BBQ and delicious vegetarian options as well as its array of freshly baked pastries and bread.
- Enjoy deliciously crafted dishes, from burgers and venison to traditional regional specialities, at the Spier Hotel Restaurant and Bar. Open daily for hotel guests and visitors.
