AUGUST 27, 2013 | The Stellenbosch Heritage Project hosts an annual festival of sporting events, and this is the first year that Spier will be sponsoring the Canoe Challenge. The Maties Canoe Club’s annual Eerste River Canoe Challenge will start at Hangbrug and finish at Spier Wine Farm on Heritage Day starting at 10:00. This dash down the river takes just under one hour and passes the River Festival site in Die Laan. The canoeing fraternity regards this stretch of river as the most exciting in the Western Cape.
