Social Media Manager

In collaboration with the Spier Brand Managers, the Social Media Manager will manage the following responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Brand Managers, create a comprehensive social media strategy to increase visibility, traffic to website and build Spier brand equity.
  • Coordinate multiple Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN feeds to complement and support online and international digital campaigns managed by Spier Brand managers.
  • Responsible for briefing social content shoot days and ensuring that content created benefits multiple products.
  • Brief and proofread copy for blogs together with copywriter and take an active editorial role to ensure content is optimized for social media channels.


  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to professionally communicate with customers, internal departments and suppliers or partners we might interview for content.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Great eye for photography and able to create short content films for Instagram, IGTV and Facebook​​.
  • Understanding of and interested in the latest trends in social media apps
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs
  • Up to date and comfortable with latest editing and social media apps
  • Need to be able to use analytics tools such as Facebook Creator Studio, Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Sprout Social (or similar).


  • Relevant Degree or Diploma (Marketing, Design, Journalism or Copywriting)
  • Minimum two years proven social media experience (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube)
  • International experience will be beneficial
  • Must have own transport.
  • Ability to work from home and work flexible hours and over weekends.
  • Naturally, applicants must have exceptional computer skills on a wide range of software and applications, relevant to this position.

  • Tenants on the North Bank: e.g. Segway, Craft Market

Examples of core duties & responsibilities:

  • Manage online brand advocacy and photo competitions
  • Regular checks across the outlets to ensure marketing collateral meets brand standards
  • Assistance with marketing event planning & execution ie. Easter, Valentines, Festive events Regular online audits to check all Spier details updated and accurate across the www
  • Ad-hoc marketing tasks as required ie ordering of collateral / follow up with suppliers
  • Design and coordinate itineraries for media visitors
  • Assistance with photoshoots, styling, coordination
  • Respond to daily guest reviews
  • Processing of purchase orders and invoices and other marketing-related admin

Skills, experience & educational requirements:

  • Matric
  • Industry-related experience
  • Strong understanding of online communication, excellent writing skills.
  • Technology proficient
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with good time management skills
