Ladies Of Spier: Deserine Van Stade

Deserine grew up on a farm in Devon Valley, before moving to Ida’s Valley where she still lives. She first started working at Spier in 2000, initially at the now-closed Spier Deli, before moving over to the Hotel. “I’m part of the furniture,” she chuckles. The head waitron loves to interact with guests, sharing with them the Spier story and, as “a coffee addict” enjoys spending time as a barista behind the bar. In her downtime at home she likes playing with her five-year-old son; and when he’s at school, she loves to work in the garden. The advice she lives by? “Be yourself and do what you have to do.”
