Saturday, 27 April: Food In The Life Of Nelson Mandela
To celebrate Freedom Day, join renowned anthropologist, chef and cookbook author Dr Anna Trapido as she talks us through a 12-course tasting menu on ‘food in the life of Nelson Mandela’, based on her book Hunger for Freedom.
Anna, who co-authored Ukutya Kwasekhaya (‘home food’ in isiXhosa) with Nelson Mandela’s personal chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya, has fascinating insights into Madiba’s culinary history. Her menu is a gastro-political journey through the stages of Nelson Mandela’s life, explaining the meaning of food to him in each of the phases.
