Spier Turns A New Leaf At Cape Wines
Spier has commissioned floral stylist Alwijn Burger, a.k.a. Blomboy, to create an eye-catching indigenous plant-themed design for the farm’s presence at Cape Wines, the international wines trade show held at Cape Town International Convention Centre in September.
Celebrating Spier’s commitment to the environment, the stand will also showcase Spier’s new A Million Trees wine range. Featuring a beautifully balanced Chardonnay and a classic South African Pinotage, the range was inspired by Tree-preneurs, an initiative which teaches members of impoverished communities how to nurture indigenous plants. Once the seedlings are big enough, they’re exchanged for food vouchers, bicycles, educational support and other essentials.
Blomboy has been working closely with Lesley Joemat, the team leader of Spier’s Tree-preneurs, whose nursery at Spier is stocked with an abundance of indigenous species. Dozens of hand-reared plants will adorn the stand, each tagged with the name of the Tree-preneur responsible for growing it.
The stand will offer visitors a soothing oasis for wine buyers, providing a respite from the bustling, crowded aisles so typical of trade shows.
Cape Wines runs from 12 – 14 September 2018. You’ll find Spier at Stand K110.
