The green fingered nursery manager Wilton Sikhosana grew up in Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal, and has worked at Spier for the past decade. Together, he and his team have grown and planted millions of indigenous plants on the farm.

Petronella Malgas – lovingly known as “Nana” by her colleagues – is Spier Hotel’s laundry manager and has worked here for the past 15 years in many different parts of the hotel.

Cuven Conradie is a cellar assistant and assistant stock controller in Spier’s winery, where he’s worked for nearly three years. The cellar is his favourite part of the farm. “I feel at home here,” he says.

Alfrieda Hanse is a farm supervisor at Spier’s Nooitgedacht farm near Paarl. She grew up in the Northern Cape and has been employed by Spier for almost 17 years. “I’m good at training people, and I’m also good at listening,” she says.

JANUAR 23, 2017 | Spier is home to a diverse bunch of passionate people, doing what they love, and committed to making a difference every day. Orlando Filander, Spier's farm manager, has worked on the farm for 16 years, playing a key role in its attainment of organic certification in 2015. A trained viticulturist, he oversees all aspects of the farm’s wellbeing, including the rejuvenation of the soil and the replanting and rehabilitation of indigenous vegetation.
