This month the Spier Tasting Room is launching our Winter Soup Tasting for wine and foodie lovers at only R120 per person. Four of our delicious wines are paired for tastings with two gourmet soups and two mouth-watering eats, and finished off with the flourish of a winter dessert. It’s the ideal experience for light-eating discovering our award-winning wines. The Winter Soup Tasting comprises of:
21 Gables Chenin Blanc 2017 paired with velvety Jerusalem artichoke soup and truffle cream
Seaward Sauvignon Blanc 2020 paired with a light watercress soup served with dill and goat’s cheese
Signature Pinotage 2020 paired with beetroot soup served with balsamic, pepper and pomegranate jewels
Yellowwood Organic Red Blend 2019 paired with roast tomato soup and a cheese finger
Cape Vintage Red 2017 paired with drunken prune cheesecake and brownie crumble
For that extra warmth and comfort, visit the Spier Farm Café on the scenic Werf and enjoy the Daily Soup, crafted by Chef Hennie with freshly baked bread from Vadas for only R65. Our winter-warming soups (Roast Tomato, classic Butternut or Sweet Potato) are made fresh each day from local produce mostly from our Food Garden. There’s plenty of space for the kids to play on the green lawns, as well as the inspiring Elemental Garden in plain sight from the Farm Café stoep.
Wondering what to do on a slow winter Sunday? Treat the family to a relaxing and delectable Sunday Harvest Lunch Buffet at the Spier Hotel Restaurant. Inspired by classic farmhouse fare, and based on seasonal produce, the menu for this sit-down feast changes weekly. It all starts with a hearty Food Garden veg soup and farm-baked bread. The mains include a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, a traditional pie and hearty stew with a tasty selection of homegrown veg. Finish it all off with a decadent dessert. At Vadas Smokehouse & Bakery breakfast is half-price from Monday to Friday, excluding beverages and pastries. Renowned for freshly baked, hand-crafted sourdough breads, you can relish avo toast, sourdough waffles topped with local smoked trout and cream cheese or tuck into the works with the Farmer Angus breakfast.
