Four of our five Spier Signature Reds won Double Golds at the 2024 Ultra Value Awards, proving that exceptional wine doesn't need to break the bank.

As we head into the festive season, we've received some news worth celebrating. Four of our five red wines from our Signature range have just been awarded Double Gold at the 2024 Ultra Value Awards - and yes, they're all under R100 a bottle.
Our Signature Collection has always been about crafting honest, everyday wines that punch above their weight. This recognition feels particularly special because it acknowledges what we've always believed: that good wine should be accessible to all.
Leading the pack is Spier Signature Red 2023, which not only earned Double Gold but was also named 'Best Buy' in the Prescient Signature Red Blend Report 2024, scoring an impressive 91 points. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz offers beautiful aromas of red berries and fynbos, with a medium-bodied palate that shows fresh acidity and gentle tannins - perfect for those upcoming summer evening gatherings.

Each of these wines tells its own story of our Western Cape soils. The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon brims with bright blackberry and cedar notes, enhanced by careful oak maturation for added complexity. Meanwhile, our Merlot, grown on 20-year-old vines, offers juicy pomegranate and cherry flavours, with subtle hints of mint reflecting its coastal influence. Last but not least, the Shiraz rounds out our gold-winning selection with its characteristic spice and violet aromas, crafted from grapes grown in vineyards that benefit from both mountain and maritime influences.
