Decomposed granite with clay subsoil
VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS:
13 – 18-year-old vines planted on cooler south-eastern slopes of Darling, Paarl and Stellenbosch regions. Deep decomposed granite soils with good water retention and medium fertility leads to low concentrated yields, adding to wine complexity. Temperature: Winter 8-19°C; Summer 13-29°C

Proximity to Ocean: 15 – 55 km
The grapes fermented individually and wines aged for 8 months in 1st, 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. The wines were tasted and then blended into the barrel for a further 4 months of ageing.
Dark intense red
Layers of blackcurrant, plums and oak spice. Ripe red and blackberry fruit with juicy plum notes and integrated spicy notes of pepper and oak.
Enjoy now or within 7 to 12 years of harvest. Serve with braised lamb shanks in roasted plum sauce on baked butternut mash.
