35% Grenache / 34% Shiraz / 31% Mourvèdre
WINEMAKER: Johan Jordaan
ORIGIN: Western Cape
TERROIR / SOIL:
The terroir ranges from deep decomposed granite soils with clay subsoil to weathered shale. Medium soil fertility has led to medium to low yields, resulting in balanced and pure wines.
VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS:
The 2018 growing season was quite dry, with the onset of harvest roughly two weeks earlier than usual. The vines are aged between 14 and 20 years. Supplementary drip irrigation was used due to extreme drought conditions.
Handpicked grapes were crushed and fermented. The varieties were fermented individually and matured in French oak barrels (half second fill and half third fill) for 12 months in oak before tasting and blending.
