Red Note Red Blend
66% Pinotage, 34% Shiraz
WINEMAKER:
Johan Jordaan
ORIGIN:
Western Cape
TERROIR / SOIL:
Vines are planted on a combination of sandy loam and clay soils from the Paarl and Breede River valleys. Moderate to warm climate results in this rich, ripe style of wine.
VINEYARD AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS:
This wine was produced from 12- to 17-year-old vines.
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were hand-picked and bunch-sorted to select only the optimal berries for de-stemming. Fermentation was completed after 8 to 12 days in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in a combination of tank and neutral barrels. The wine maturated with alternative oak for 16 months, resulting in a balanced, off-dry wine with rich complexity.
APPEARANCE:
Dark ruby red
TASTING NOTE:
Harmonious elements of plum, blackcurrant, cherry and dark chocolate. Subtle spiciness leads to a concentrated smooth wine with off-dry, fruity flavours.
SERVE WITH:
Hamburgers, tomato-based pasta dishes, and the all-time hearty macaroni and cheese.
