Harvest Of The Arts
Join us for a weekend festival celebrating the annual grape harvest with cultural abundance to delight the soul and senses.
Third World Bunfight runs the performing arts program with Spier, and has devised a diverse programme with top local artists to create an intriguing, spirited festival.
An enchanting children’s theatre performance entitled 'How to Hold the World’, written and directed by Juliette Rose-Innes, starts off the program each day at noon.
Away from the main stage, in quiet nooks under the oaks, guests can attend afternoon poetry recitals by local writers such as Kobus Moolman, Jacques Coetzee and Dominique Botha, and can gather for a collective outdoor meditation on the river bank each evening. At 19:00, a spectacular harvest thanksgiving ritual featuring the Tierra Flamenca dancers and an ensemble of percussionists will precede the sunset concert.
“Spier is about good wine, a healthy earth and happy people. We reflect all of that with the works we will program here, where artistic merit and cultural richness are championed, two elements we cherish above all else.” says artistic director, Brett Bailey.
