For years the Stellenbosch winelands destination hasn’t been home to either, following the meticulous restoration of the farmyard and Slave Bell Tower in 2014.

Today the Spier Werf is surrounded by five buildings with 21 historic gables, decorating the facades of the Cape Dutch structures. The Spier Manor House (1822), Farm Kitchen (1812), the organic Werf Wine Cellar (1773) and the Hoghouse BBQ and Bakery housed in the old Jonkershuis (1778) looks onto the giant oak in the middle of the heart of the farm.
In the one corner, the old rose garden has been re-established as an organically-managed food garden, supplying herbs, fruit and vegetables to our restaurants. Here everything is grown without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers, and you are likely to see our gardener and chef discussing the daily menu.
