Earth Hour At Spier
On Saturday 28 March between 20.30 and 21.30, people around the world will switch the lights off to celebrate Earth Hour 2015, an initiative aimed at creating a more sustainable future for our planet.
Earth Hour aims to foster a global community of people committed to reducing their environmental impact and working towards a sustainable future. The event also aims to show that environmental problems are not insurmountable – and that by making small changes, we can make a big difference.
EARTH HOUR AT SPIER
As part of its commitment to a greener future, Spier will be switching off the lights in the main hotel building and at Eight restaurant for this hour.
Spier Hotel braai
Celebrate Earth Hour in the candlelight with a traditional South African braai buffet at the Spier Hotel. After tucking in to delicious locally-inspired fare, play one of our boardgames with the family, or take a headlamp and go stargazing on one of our Qhubeka bikes. The Kids' Corner will also have bicycle-powered dynamo-lights where children can spin to see how much light they can generate.
Price: R275 per adult; R120 for kids under 12
Book your place by emailing reservations@spier.co.za.
Explore your senses: dinner at Eight
Our senior red wine winemaker, Johan Jordan, will be hosting a food-and-wine pairing in the glow of the candlelight at Eight, Spier's farm-to-table restaurant. Johan will focus on touch, taste, smell and hearing as he guides you through a blind tasting of Spier wine, accompanied by a combination of raw food and delicacies prepared on an open fire to save energy.
Price: R400 per person including wine
Book your place by phoning Eight on 021 809 1188.
