International Acclaim For Spier Arts Wine Collection’s Eye-Catching Design
The Spier Arts Wine Collection has been awarded a Bronze medal in the Drinks International’s Wine Design Challenge 2017’s Best Design for a Wine Range category.
This range of eight wines celebrates the era-defining work of four South African artists: Sam Nhlengethwa, Mohau Modisakeng, Alex Emsley and Michael Taylor, and was created in 2016 to commemorate the 150th birthday of Spier’s largest Danish customer, COOP.
“The eight exquisite artworks that this range features each show the depth and diversity of South Africa’s visual arts, while the clear and beautiful packaging design has allowed these works to take centre stage,” says Andrew Milne, Spier’s CEO.
This is not the first time the Spier Arts Wine Collection has received acclaim. Its contribution towards supporting the arts was recognised by Business and Arts South Africa when it was included as a finalist in the Innovation category at the 2016 BASA Awards.
“Spier is as much about art as it is about wine. We believe in art’s potential to transform society, and so we invest significantly in South African artists and arts initiatives such as this one,” Milne says.
