Spier Hotel Guests Warm Up Local Little Hearts
At Spier, we're not just about wine; we're passionate about making a positive impact on our local communities. It’s a big reason why we get out of bed in the morning, but we couldn’t do it without the support of our hotel guests and visitors to the farm.
Between September and December 2022, every room night booked at Spier Hotel on our summer offer meant a R25 donation to our Growing for Good initiative. This initiative empowers communities to create positive social and environmental change. With the money raised, we were able to give the children at Lynedoch Children’s House gloves and beanies to keep them warm during winter, as well as new shirts to complete their uniforms.
Jessica Eley, the School Coordinator at Lynedoch Community School, expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying: “We are so so so grateful. I know that they are going to love them so much and really will keep them warm.”
The second beneficiary of guests’ kindness was Vlottenburg Primary, a farm school in Stellenbosch for children aged 4-5. Through funds raised, we were able to provide stationery, books and puzzles to the little ones, enriching their learning experience.
Principal Charmaine Abrahamse’s words of appreciation highlights the importance of community involvement: “Thank you so much to Spier Wine Farm for the generous donation of stationery to the Pre-Gr. R class. We feel so privileged and grateful that there are people who care enough for our children’s education. The joy on the little ones' faces was enough to show their appreciation. Your donation will definitely brighten their lives and help to make learning fun.”
