Spier Shines At Prestigious International Wine Competition
Spier scooped three gold medals out of the 25 awarded to South African wines at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2014.
The gold medals were awarded to the Spier 21 Gables range’s Chenin Blanc 2012 and Pinotage 2011, as well as to Spier Creative Block 3 2011. These three wines were amongst 8060 competing from more than 40 countries. 2330 medals were handed out at this years’ competition, which marked the 20th year of the Brussels-based awards.
“We are delighted to be winning gold for wines from our flagship 21 Gables range as this recognises our passionate commitment to crafting quality wines that embody the Cape’s rich winemaking heritage,” says Spier’s Cellar Master Frans Smit, adding that a gold for Spier Creative Block 3 2011 provided further evidence that the blending expertise behind this Rhône-style blend was yielding fruit.
Spier also received three silver medals at the awards:

- Spier Creative Block 3 2012
- Savanha Naledi Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
