CONSERVING AND ENHANCING OUR NATURAL VEGETATION
The landscaping and rehabilitation of the Farm focus on indigenous plants and bulbs that are sited in areas where they can grow naturally.
Spier has a permanent team of 30 employees dedicated to the propagation and re-planting of indigenous and endemic plant species.
The team strives to source endangered plants as well as plants that are no longer found in the area. This focus will continue at pace until a critical balance of diversity has been restored to the farm. Spier hopes that we will have developed biodiversity unique in this area that would be both valuable and educational for the future.
The Nursery has planted over 102 957 different trees, shrubs and fynbos on the Farm since 2012.
