Arnoud Tamboer Jansz Cap Classique 2015

57% Chardonnay / 34 % Pinot Noir

Made from 57% Chardonnay and 34% Pinot Noir grown in Stellenbosch, this Vintage Brut is full of finesse and fresh acidity. Vibrant aromas of Golden apple, ripe citrus and hints of freshly baked brioche. The delicate mousse enchants the palate.

Versatile and best served with a seafood boil, Thai fish cakes, charred cauliflower or an antipasti platter.

“Winemaking is equal parts honouring tradition and forging new paths, which is what this vibrant sparkling wine does. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the result is a boutique Cap Classique that pays tribute to its South African origins as it travels to new lands to be enjoyed by those who are effervescent about life.”

- Cellar Master Johan Jordaan

WINEMAKER: Heidi Dietstein

ORIGIN:  Stellenbosch

The vines are grown along the mountainous slopes of Stellenbosch in a combination of Escourt and Glen Rosa soils. Located just 20 km from the coast, the vineyard benefits from a cooling Atlantic Ocean breeze. The grapes ripen slowly and evenly for enhanced quality thanks to the moderate temperatures.

The grapes were hand-harvested from three selected vineyard blocks between 18° and 19.5°C using 10kg lug boxes. They were then hand-sorted and gently, whole-bunch pressed. The free-run juice from each varietal was separately fermented in stainless-steel tanks and 10% in 400L French-oak barrels. Secondary fermentation and maturation took place on the lees in the bottle for eight years. After riddling, it was disgorged, and the minimum dosage was added to preserve freshness.
