Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier’s winery has won multiple awards in recent years: In 2017, the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2017 awarded the Spier 21 Gables Pinotage 2014 with a “Gold Outstanding” medal and the Spier 21 Gables Chenin Blanc was included in Tim Atkin’s South African 2017 Special Report.
Spier wine farm is one of 38 WWF Conservation Champions and is organic- and WIETA-certified. The Spier winery is FSSC 22000, Fair Trade-, WIETA-, and organically-certified. Both the cellar and the farm follow the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.
