We’re thrilled to share that Creative Block 3 2021 has secured a coveted spot among the top five Shiraz-based blends at the prestigious 2025 Shiraz SA Challenge—a vibrant recognition of South African Shiraz’s versatility and depth.

Creative Block 3 is a Rhône-style blend of 94% Shiraz, 4% Mourvèdre and 2% Viognier, delivering layers of violets, black cherry, mulberry, and spice, with a silky mid-palate and firm, juicy tannins. The grapes flourish in coastal vineyards with decomposed granite and clay soils, cooled by ocean breezes, before maturing for 16 months in French and American oak. The result is a wine of structure, balance, and elegance.

The name Creative Block is inspired by Spier’s art initiative of the same name, where artists create small-format works that are combined to form larger, more meaningful pieces—just as the individual varietal components of the wine are artfully blended to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Spier Seaward Shiraz 2023 enjoyed runner-up position for the Shiraz category.
