NOCTURNAL ADVENTURES

Each year during March / April, the farm comes alive during Spier Light Art — a month-long nighttime adventure for the whole family to enjoy. A remarkable array of interactive artworks that use light, sound and video were scattered across the historic Stellenbosch estate, which guests can explore after dark for free.

Since 2020, Spier hosts Constellations which offers intriguing, intimate fireside performances by leading local cultural talents. Conceptualised by Brett Bailey, the internationally acclaimed theatre director and playwright, Constellations takes several small groups of guests on a nocturnal adventure through the enchanting, wild parts of the farm. The groups rotate among a sequence of campfires, each one presided over by its own unique Fire Guardian – a local artist, poet, musician, performer or storyteller – who hosts an experience that is enthralling, moving and delightful.
